At the beginning of World War II, Jan Zvartenteik, who at that time served the Consul of the Netherlands in Lithuania, found a way to save the lives of thousands of Jews fled from Poland, giving them a visa to the Kyurasa Netherlands in the Caribbean basin. Thanks to the joint work of the Consul of the Netherlands, as well as the Japanese consul in Lithuania, refugees were able to cross the Trans -Siberian Railway to Japan, and then disperse all over the world. Most who received visas survived the war.
The book gives a vivid idea of what Eastern Europe was during the Second World War, and tells the real stories of the saved Jews. The author of the book managed to talk with most of them. During his large -scale rescue operation, Jan Zvartenteik was posthumously awarded the honorary title of “righteous of the peoples of the world”.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of World War II and Holocaust
