The book that you are now in your hands talks about the battle for Moscow 1941-1942. It is dedicated to the heroic generation of front -line soldiers and only workers of the rear, who defended the capital in the most difficult period of the Great Patriotic War and thereby saved not only their country, but also the entire world civilization from Nazi enslavement. The work is based on many domestic and foreign archival sources, memoirs, diaries, letters. For the first time, many photos stored in the Central Archive of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are demonstrated. The book is designed to help Russian schoolchildren and students who are interested in the history of their homeland better to know the facts and the spirit of that era when each person had to make his most important life choice - here and now and without the right to mistake.
It is symbolic that the publication is published in the year of the 80th anniversary of the beginning of the defense of Moscow and the counterattack of the Red Army in the first decisive battle of the entire World War II. It was then worth the Soviet people to stay on the edge of the abyss. But this happened, and we won! Therefore, the study of events associated with the protection of the capital, when the enemy literally knocked on its goal, has both cognitive and educational significance. For its part, the Russian military-historical society has already done a lot to carefully preserve the memory of the heroes of the battles for Moscow and will continue such activities further. This is also described in this publication
