The book is dedicated to the history of the political elite of the Epirian kingdom, one of the three Greek states fighting for the restoration of the Byzantine Empire in 1205-1261. The system of distribution of power within the ruling DUK dynasty, the composition and functions of the approximate sovereign, are investigated, the significance of family and friendly relations as factors of consolidation of the aristocracy and clergy is considered. Special attention is paid to the formation of the ideology of the Epirian kingdom and its reception by representatives of the political elite.
