The monograph by the candidate of historical sciences A. A. Chemakin (St. Petersburg State University) is the first study on the history of the Russian National Democratic Movement and National Democracy as an ideology. Based on the materials of the archives and periodicals, the author characterizes the activities of ideological predecessors of Russian national democrats from the Czech Republic and Galicia, reconstructs the first attempts to create national democratic organizations in the Russian Empire, and considers biographies of ideologists and leaders of this direction. Special attention is paid to the National Democratic Collection "Lado".
