The current volume of the annual “ancient states of Eastern Europe” is devoted to the study of diplomatic practices in various cultures of antiquity and the Middle Ages. Particular attention is paid to the diplomacy of ancient Russia, including the Russian-Byzantine agreements of the X century. Features of the diplomacy of Byzantium in the Caucasian region and the Turkic world are also considered. A number of articles are devoted to the analysis of sources, their dating and the information contained in them. For the first time translated into Russian, reports on Russian -anzean negotiations and fragments of the composition of the Ericus Olai are published. Some of the articles are written on the basis of reports read on the readings of the memory of V.T. Pashuto dedicated to the centenary of his birth. These include materials that consider his scientific heritage. The publication is designed for a wide range of specialists: anti -people, mediaists, orientists, as well as all those interested in the history of international relations
