Guy Suetonius Transville (about 70 AD - after 122 BC) - an ancient Roman writer and historian, personal secretary of the emperor, Adrian.
The most famous work of Suetonius is a collection of biographies "Life of the Twelve Caesars", in which the author describes the appearance, habits, details of the personal life of the most famous rulers of Rome. It is this book that contains the famous stories related to the Roman emperors (the horse of Caligula, the acting exercises of Nero, the words of Vespasian "money do not smell", the words of Titus "Friends, I lost the day" and others).
The book immediately became popular and remains such to this day. The information collected by Suetonius is often cited, its descriptions of the emperors served as the basis for the works of many other authors, and in the modern world are used in scenarios of films about the life of ancient Rome.
