In 1478, Ferdinand II Aragones and Isabella I Castilskaya created an organization that went down in history under the name of the Spanish Inquisition. The fundamental difference between the Spanish Inquisition and the Catholic Church, which operated throughout Europe of the same name, consisted in the fact that it put the interests of the royal power above and sometimes conflict with the Roman dads. The Spanish Inquisitors paid little attention to the persecution of witches, but they did not disdain to engage in political investigation and brutally punished everyone who prevented the achievement of the state and religious unity of Spain - primarily Muslims, Jews, Lutheran. Thousands and thousands of people were forcibly converted to Christianity, and then punished that they turned out to be insufficiently zealous Christians. In his famous work, Samuel Lozinsky describes in detail the existence of the Spanish Inquisition - from its education to abolition in the first quarter of the 19th century. The book, which saw the light in 1914, is first published in modern Russian spelling
