Nikolai Mikhailovich Korkunov (1853–1904)-Russian legal scientist, lawyer, philosopher of law, the lectures of which had a decisive influence on the domestic thinkers of the state and law, and in general on the legal awareness of the Russian intelligentsia. This edition publishes Korkunov’s manual, on which he relied in his lectures, which had a deafening success in the second half of the 19th century. Starting a story about the history of the philosophy of law with the teachings of the ancient Greeks (Sophists, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle), he brings it to positivism and utilitarianism-modern philosophical and legal systems. This manual does not lose its significance today, remaining a monument to Russian legal and political thought, not inferior to the best pages of B. N. Chicherin and I. A. Ilyin
