A new monograph, prepared by Israeli, Russian, American and German researchers, is devoted to various aspects of the life of Jews in the Russian Empire. It is the second part of the series "History of the Jewish people in Russia" and covers the period from the first section of Poland in 1772 to the February Revolution of 1917 in this edition, summing up of perennial research, is reflected in the diversity of modern approaches to the history and cultural heritage of the Russian Jewishness. Among the main topics presented in the five sections of the book are the history of state legislation on Jews, Jewish public, religious and political movements, demographic processes, the development of new Jewish literature in three languages - Hebrew, Yiddish and Russian and the emergence of various forms of national culture in the empire
