The author of the book by Henrietta Gizo (in the marriage de Witt) (1829-1908) is the daughter of an outstanding public figure, historian and philosopher Francois Gizo. For many years she worked with her father, was his secretary, and also wrote historical novels, translated into French Shakespeare and Dickens, and was engaged in publishing.
"History of France" (from the ancient Gaul to the Russian campaign of Napoleon) was created in 1889 on the basis of the fundamental five -volume work of F. Gizo "History of France for children".
