Alexander Ivanovich Spiridovich (1873-1952)-Major General of a separate corps of gendarmes, head of the Kyiv security department, imperial palace guard, Yalta mayor. During the February Revolution, he was arrested, but in October 1917 he was released from prison on a monetary bail. In 1920 he emigrated to France. In 1950, he moved to America. "The story of Bolshevism in Russia" was written in France and was first published in Paris in 1922. This is one of the most complete studies of the Russian phenomenon of Bolshevism - from 1883 to 1917.
Spiridovich so sought to maintain objectivity in his work, based exclusively on documentary data, which, in addition to his will, the reader comes to an disappointing conclusion: the Bolsheviks and, in particular, "hard-stone Ulyanov-Lenin, who have grown from the small group of left-handed social democrats. ", were the only force, wishing and capable of taking power into their own hands. Against the backdrop of their unshakability, fantastic (and fanatical) ability to push their point of view, use all means and overcome any resistance to absolutely everything - from the tsarist government to cadets and Socialist -Revolutionaries. It was not a matter of expediency, but a matter of energy: such a stream would sweep away everything in its path, and the author clearly foresaw this future.
The book did not include the program, the manifesto and the charter of the RSDLP, as well as the detailed presentations of the resolutions of all party congresses and conferences. But as an ideal example of the propaganda material and a model of the typical Bolshevik press, excerpts from the article by the ideologist of the party E.
