The June Tank Battle of 1941 in the triangle of Lutsk - Brody - Dubno still remains one of the most mysterious pages of Russian history. The five mechanized buildings of the Kyiv Special Military District participating in it totaled 2,800 tanks of all types, from light BT and T-26 to giants KV-2 and T-35. They were opposed by only about 800 tanks and self-propelled guns of the 1st tank group von Kleist, of which only 450 Pz.III and Pz.Iv. If these two tank armades simply collided on a field of suitable size like a knightly cavalry, the outcome of the battle was easy to predict. However, in reality, Soviet mechanized corps lost part of armored vehicles and a week later began to retreat to the old border.
