This book is devoted to the theoretical problems of onomastics. The history of the issue is described in detail, the place of onomastics is determined among other sciences and the connection of the names of one’s own with human life. The classifications of own names according to various criteria are offered, the transition of own names into household and vice versa is investigated. Particular attention in the work is paid to the semantics of the names of their own and their role in language and speech.
