The monograph is devoted to the economic history of the Soviet Union from 1979 to 1991. The main attention is paid to the study of the financial and credit component of the USSR economy. The focus of research interests contains the Soviet banking system and the consumer market, problems of state planning, commodity-money unbalanced and the state’s pricing policy, and the sanctions confrontation of the USSR and the Western countries are considered. The monograph also analyzes the main measures of the perestroika period, in particular the adoption of the law on state -owned enterprises, the reorganization of state banks and the first steps of the modern banking system, the development of the cooperative sector, and an attempt to stabilize the consumer market.
