This publication was prepared by leading military historians on the basis of the Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences and the Institute of History of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus in the framework of the International Project “Country on Fire”, called upon comprehensively and objectively investigating the main pages of the history of the struggle of the Soviet people with invaders in 1941-1945. It is a continuation of the two -volume publication "1941. The country on fire", published in 2011
the book is devoted to issues of military strategy, domestic policy (national economy, public life, restoring the country"s regions destroyed by the war), the liberation mission of the Red Army in Europe, the interaction of the USSR with the allies in the anti -Hitler coalition, the interaction of partisans and underground with the Red Army, the restoration of economic and public life, and the fight against nationalist underground.
