This monograph is a continuation of a series of publications of the author, dedicated to various aspects of the activity of Prince M. S. Vorontsov during his governorship in the Caucasus Territory. The merit of M. S. Vorontsov is that he managed to lay strong grounds for modernization transformations initiated by Russia in the Caucasus. The author pays attention to the entire complex of measures aimed at developing and rooting the imperial state-political and economic system in the Caucasus, the development of educational and cultural institutions that were in the field of view of the Russian Caucasian administration. The accent is placed on charity, in which the prince-sorcerer directly took part himself and moved to the service of many others, as well as on issues related to the development of medical institutions and resort places in the Caucasian region. The final pages of the monograph tell about disputes around the name of the prince-mucker and the assessment of his Caucasian heritage, which unfolded after his departure from the Caucasus and did not subside for many decades
