Who benefited the most loud corruption scandal of the USSR? At whose expense did the party elite stuffed pockets? And how did the usual ... cotton affected the collapse of a huge country?
“cotton business” is a series of large-scale economic crimes in Uzbekistan of the 70-80s. The overstated requirements of the USSR State Planning Commission turned into postscribes, a double accounting and a multi -level pyramid of lies, theft and bribery. During the investigation, more than 800 criminal cases were instituted and over 4 thousand people were convicted. But the main thing is that the authority of power was undermined by the people, the principle of the inviolability of communist covenants was nullified.
The author of the book, the writer-historian F.I. Razzakov is convinced: “cotton business” is not about the bribery and corruption of individual party functionaries, but the operation of the West and its accomplices within the USSR in order to eliminate the existing political system in the Soviet Union
