Roger Charles Anderson, a well -known English naval historian, offers a detailed description of the battles that occurred in the Eastern Mediterranean from the middle of the XVI to the middle of the XIX century. In the most detailed way, the author describes the Cretan wars and the sea of the sea, the siege of Corfu and the battle at Cape Matan, the Napoleonic wars and the role of the Navy of the Western powers, the Greek war for independence. Anderson pays particular attention to the creation of the Russian fleet and the arrival of Russians on the Mediterranean Sea. The book ends in the Sinop battle, which, in fact, became the end of the wooden sailing fleet. It should be noted that the scientist not only describes the sea battles, but puts them in a historical context, showing what influence they have on the general course of history.
