Military historians argue that the Second World War was, first of all, the war of the tanks. Thousands of armored combat vehicles were often used on the battlefields in order to decide the fate of the battle or even the entire campaign. A lot depended on the commanders of the formations of armored troops. This skillfully used the Wehrmacht in operations against Poland, in the west and in the first period of the Great Patriotic War. But then the battles of tank generals gradually began to acquire a different character, without losing their severity and tension.
The book “The Battle of Tank Generals” in chronological sequence discusses the development of armored vehicles, the formations of tank troops and the results of their use from the point of view of military art. This approach allows the truth to be separated from the fictions, to see the role of the personality of the military leaders and draw the appropriate conclusions, a number of which are fundamentally diverging with many generally accepted ideas
