This publication introduces the works of an outstanding anti-one, a classic philologist, translator and cultural scientist Faddei Frantsevich Zelinsky (1859-1944) For the author, the ancient world is not quiet and a museum that distracts from modern life, but a living part of modern culture, it determines the main significance of antiquity in the fact that it is the ancestor of ideas and concepts that we now live. Zelinsky is actively calling for the study of ancient Greek and Latin languages, ancient history and literature, philosophy and fine art. According to the scientist, a modern person will only acquire the true concept of culture, the breadth of knowledge and the independence of thought.
Of the Zelinsky’s works presented in the book of works, the greatest recognition in Russia and abroad received a course of lectures “Ancient World and We” - a synthesizing understanding of antiquity and modernity and at the same time an attempt to substantiate philosophically and historically the need for classical education for cultural Europe. This work came out in three publications in Russian, in addition, it was translated into many European languages
