The German Order of the Holy Virgin Mary, who is more known in us under the name of Teutons, in the domestic (and not only) historiography, fiction and cinema, frankly, was not lucky. Almost everyone from childhood remembered the expression “dogs-fish”, although in the Russian chronicles of these “dogs” they called the “God"s nobles” or “God"s servants”. With the word “Teutons” in the mind of many, many immediately have a negative associative series: the ice battle-the iron pig-the cradle of the aggressive Prussian Junker state-the forerunner of the German fascism ... What is really living under the “knight-tedon”? What are their ideals for which they were ready to sacrifice their lives without hesitation?
