The testimonies of the red terror, which were included in this book, were first published exactly a hundred years ago in the collection “Che-ka. Materials on the activities of emergency commissions ”, published in Berlin by the Party of Socialist Revolutionaries. The names of those to whom they belong, with a little exception, are hidden behind pseudonyms. These people at the time of the press were in Russia, and some were again arrested and waited for their fate in prisons, which were so vividly described in this book. A characteristic detail: they all consider it necessary to indicate the party belonging of the victims of terror. It is important for them to emphasize that the Bolsheviks who came to power kill their associates yesterday to combat the autocracy. They seem to be perplexed how this could happen. But that is the logic of the Civil War, that it is fiercely distorting the life of all: left and right, liberals and cheers-patriots, political activists and those who do not want to hear about politics. And terror, no matter who unleashed, devours both his and strangers ultimately
