John Reed is an American journalist, a socialist. Arriving in Petrograd in August 1917, he ended up at the epicenter of revolutionary cataclysms. The book “Ten Days that shocked the world” is, of course, a definite look at the events that occurred in Russia - the look of a person, romantically and sincerely enthusiastic about the ideas of communism. And at the same time, it is an invaluable historical document and a monument to the departed era - a number of bright scenes, picked up from life and allowing you to feel the atmosphere of those days. Soon after writing the book, John Reed died of typhoid and was buried with honors near the Kremlin wall - as one of the heroes of the new Russia. In 1922, his book was published with the preface by V.I. Lenin, where the leader of the world proletariat wrote: Having read John Reed’s book with the most enormous interest and unhappy attention“ Ten days that shocked the whole world, ”I sincerely recommend this composition to the workers of all countries.”
