Colonel General Erhard Raus (1889-1956) went down in history as one of the best tank commanders of the Wehrmacht, who was thrown into the most critical sections of the front, and his memories are on a par with the memoirs of Guderian and von Manstein. Raus began the war against the USSR on June 22, 1941 by the commander of the motorized regiment, in December 1943 he was appointed commander of the tank army. By the end of the war, Raus, who rose to the commander of the Army Group, had a reputation as an outstanding master of use of tanks, which made it a valuable source of information for the Pentagon. In captivity, he wrote detailed memoirs about his military path, covering the entire campaign on the Eastern Front. Based on them, the Americans prepared a series of benefits for conducting hostilities in Russia, taking into account the characteristics of the climate, terrain, qualities of Soviet troops and command methods. Raus’s book is now being seen in the US Army as an instruction on Unified Land Operations, the main doctrine of the Ground Forces.
From the famous battle with the "Raseynyaysky KV", battles on the approaches to Leningrad, the Typhoon operation, attempts to release the surrounded group near Stalingrad, the battles for Kharkov and on the Kursk Bulge to fierce battles in the Baltic states, East Prussia and in Germany - This book will lead the reader through the crucible of the most cruel tank confrontations of the Second World War
