The assault on the city is rightfully considered one of the most difficult types of offensive actions, on which not all military leaders were decided. During the Great Patriotic War, the German command recommended that their generals avoid the assault on Soviet cities, if possible, and failed during the storm of Stalingrad. Soviet troops were forced to storm the cities, freeing their native land, and then completing the defeat of the enemy in Europe. At the same time, each of the assaults undertaken demanded special military art and inevitably led to huge human victims and large material losses. Despite the rich accumulated experience of the use of troops in the assault of cities, many mistakes made by the Soviet military leaders during the Great Patriotic War were repeated during the assault on Grozny in 1995
