In this work, prepared on the basis of the study and analysis of domestic and foreign literature, archival sources, the military-political and organizational foundations of the repatriation process, the policy of the Soviet state in the field of repatriation of Soviet and foreign citizens, the activities of state-political and military repatriation bodies in 1944- 1953
The main attention is paid to the process of returning to the homeland of Soviet and foreign citizens liberated by the Red Army and allied troops in Eastern and Western Europe, as well as collaborators, prisoners of war of the German army and the armies of its allies and interned persons in the study period. These processes are still the subject of disputes and are not always objectively evaluated by both domestic and Western historians.
Without myths and falsifications, the features of an allied policy in relation to Soviet prisoners of war and displaced persons during the Great Patriotic War are revealed, its dynamics in 1945-1953. The complexity and ambiguity of the content of the political course of the Allies in matters of the implementation of the Crimean agreements that created difficulties on the path of the events that the Soviet repatriation organs in the western zones of the occupation of Germany and Austria, in Europe, in the countries of Europe, are shown
