Ivan Vasilievich Mushkutov (1850-1902) - an outstanding Russian scientist, geologist and geographer, the famous traveler, member of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society. Geography and geology thanks to the work of Mushkutov were replenished with a number of most important scientific discoveries. He compiled the first geological map of Turkestan, organized the first service of seismological research in the Russian Empire, prepared an earthquake catalog - that is why it is called the "father of Russian seismology". Mushkutov discovered several most important mineral deposits, his scientific works are translated into many languages. For scientific merits, I.V.
