This book talks about how a long -term search for traces of the “missing stage” - 1111 of the Solovetsky special appointment prisoners taken out of the islands in October 1937 and without a trace - led to the discovery of the largest burial of the shot victims of large terror in the northwestern of Russia 1937-1938 . But the story did not end this, but only began: around the memorial cemetery created here, a tight knot of "conflicts of memory" - obvious and implicit clashes of different concepts of understanding the Soviet past.
