The landowner Daria Saltykova went down in history as one of the most cruel serial killers. She tortured 139 people to death. In 1768, the landowner was sentenced by the court to the death penalty, replaced by a life imprisonment in a monastery prison.
"Saltychikha" became famous not only for its crimes, but also by the fact that for the first time in the history of Russia, its case was considered a specially created body - a judicial board. And she herself, legally, was recognized as the first serial killer in the history of the Russian Empire
