This book is the first-publisher of the expedition to the Holy Mountain of Kailash in West Tibet, undertaken in 1935 by the famous Italian orientalist Giuseppe Tuchchi (1894-1984) The indefatigable researcher of the Gimalaev and the Snow countries made 14 expeditions to different areas of Tibet and Nepal, during which invaluable collections of ancient manuscripts and art monuments were collected, new routes along the highland paths of the world unknown to Europeans were first laid.
Peru D. Tuchchi belong to the fundamental works dedicated to the Indian and Tibetan religion, philosophy, culture and art. His books such as "Tibetan manuscript scrolls", "theory and practice of the mandala", "History of Indian philosophy" became a universally recognized classic of world oriental thought thoughts.
This translation from Italian was carried out according to the first edition, published in 1937, taking into account the most significant corrections and additions made by the author, is preceded by an introductory article (outline of the scientist’s life and scientific activity), and is also equipped with comments and numerous photographs made by scientists during the expedition. The book is of interest to both orientalists and a wide range of readers interested in Eastern philosophy and culture.
