Erich Cube - a famous German publicist, a participant in the Second World War - analyzes the military and political situation, which developed in the international arena in the spring of 1945, on the eve of the battle for Berlin. Describes the process of falling the capital of the Third Reich and the consequences of these events for Germany and all of Europe. During the Second World War, cubes served in the Wehrmacht, fought in France and on the Eastern Front. He described the ordinary life of a German soldier in letters that he sent from the front, and in almost daily diary entries. Using his combat experience and colossal documentary material, including archives and memoir literature, the author presented the iconic figures of generals and political figures - participants in events - military officers and ordinary soldiers of the warring parties. In his study, Cube sought to give an objective assessment of the "last, crazy days" spring 1945
