The monograph presents the results of the comprehensive study of the history of military units of the Russian regular army, which were taken for the first time in Russian historiography, deployed in Siberia for most of the XVIII century. The author paid the main attention to the identification and characteristics of the stages of state policy in the field of army construction for the Urals, the analysis of the staffing staff of the garrison and field army units in Siberia, the organization of the system of material support of the regular army on the "eastern outskirts of the Russian Empire and its features related to specific conditions. It was established that during the period under consideration, the position of the military units of the regular army east of the Urals differed in a number of parameters from the position of troops deployed in the European part of the country. The supreme power constantly paid quite serious attention to the issues of strengthening the defense capacity and protecting the state borders of the Russian Empire in Siberia, even if it did not always have the necessary human and material resources for them.
