The East, and in particular, the mysterious Persia, attracted masters of Russian poetry for more than two centuries who drew inspiration in oriental motives. How and why did every piit meet with the east? What did the Persian string of Russian lyrics bring to domestic literature? The book of a candidate of historical sciences, publisher, poet and traveler Sergei Dmitriev will make an exciting excursion in the history of Russian poetry, as well as Iran and Persian literature. The author managed to make such a trip alone, but together with A. Griboedov, A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, I. Bunin, K. Balmont, N. Gumilev, S. Gorodetsky, V. Khlebnikov, S. Yesenin and other authors , in whose work the Persian theme sounded loud and bright. Not all of them managed to personally see Iran, but he attracted them to himself for a long time. The basis of the book is more than 35 historical and biographical essays about Russian poets written from the point of view of the interest of these authors to Persia and revealing new facets of their work. The reader will see how much the muse of distant wanderings influenced the poets, and how they sang the East and Persia in their creations.
