In 1921, a terrible hunger began in Russia. In order to stop him, the new Soviet government led by Vladimir Lenin invited the American administration of assistance, the brainchild of Herbert Hoover, to save communist Russia from ruin. For two years, a small group of brave Americans fed more than ten million people. It was the largest humanitarian operation in history, which prevented the death of countless people, mass excitement and, quite possibly, the collapse of the communist state. After a hundred years, few people remember these events. The Soviet government quickly erased the memory of American assistance. Douglas Smith resurrects an American mission to assist from obscurity. The history of ARA is political intrigues, adventures and romance, but above all, uncompromising altruism and love for your neighbor.
“Russian Mission” is an exciting report on joint efforts to prevent the crisis, which had no equal before or after
