This work is dedicated to the fate of the Gomel region - a special region, which ended up on the borderlands of the largest state formations of the late Middle Ages in Eastern Europe, the Moscow Grand Duchy and the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. These states from the end of the XV century. Fierce the struggle for the approval in the designated region of their geopolitical interests. As a result of the first border wars of 1486-1494. and 1500-1503 Moscow possessions approached the territory of the modern Republic of Belarus. The only region that was under the control of the Moscow authorities (1500-1537) was precisely Gomelshchina. The work is of historiographic, research and historical -geographical character. Along with the consideration of the history of the vault, the author solved the problems of localizing the settlements of the region, the reconstruction of state and administrative borders. The study is based on special -historical methods (primarily retrospective) and a wide source base, including Moscow -school agreements, embassy books, acts of Lithuanian metric, borders, description of the volost.
