This encourages representatives of the opposing ideological camps to attach great importance to the food problem and its historical aspects. The ideological struggle is accompanied by active historical myth -making - based on biased journalistic works, conjunctural fiction and alchemical manipulations with official statistics. A characteristic sign of time is the susceptibility of society to historical myths associated with the topic of hunger in Russia. Frank lie is replicated not only by anonymous Internet propagandists, but also by famous people: politicians, writers, representatives of academic science. As a result, speculative interpretations and historical fakes spread like epidemics and are absorbed as "well -known truths". The latter circumstance actualizes this problem, taking it beyond the framework of a narrow-historical phenomenon
