The book tells how at the beginning of the 20th century the industrial revolution and social chaos called the armed movement of the anarchists to life. The traditions of Russian anarchists were a mixture of Western and homegrown elements. Missed through the prism of the teachings of Bakunin, Kropotkin and naive populism, they developed violently during the revolutions of 1905 and 1917. Anarchism in Russia intensified and went to decline along with the development of the revolutionary movement as a whole. In the whirlpool of uprisings, terrorist acts and the Civil War, the anarchists tried to realize their program, but were defeated by the Bolsheviks supplanted from the political arena
