The history of the First World War in the Patriotic and foreign literature is mainly represented by works that analyze mainly the military-political, strategic, operational-tactical and socio-economic components. The sociological and socio-psychological side of the problem associated with the study of war as a social phenomenon remained, as a rule, outside the field of view of researchers. Meanwhile, the essence of the reasons why Russia at the end of the First World War was neither in the camp of the winners, nor in the camp of the defeated, lies precisely in the field of analysis of its manpower - the mental state and social well -being of the military at the front and the civilian population in the rear .
