The monograph is dedicated to ethno -confessional ideas about neighboring peoples in the Russians of the pre -Mongol and early Mongol time. The author considers at that time the church instructions in the field of interfaith contacts, inherent in the original Russian texts, vocabulary of self -identification and demarcation with “strangers”, outstanding models of description of relations with other peoples and concomitant biblical parallels characteristic of these texts. The work traces the origin and development of these ideas, and the conclusion is made about their systemic nature
