The Macedonian wars are four large -scale clashes between the Roman Republic and Macedonia, as a result of which Rome began to dominate the Balkans. The first war began the king of Macedonia Philip V. Getting in 215 BC, after the victory of Hannibal under Cannes, an alliance with Carthage, he tried to master Illyria-a region in the north-west of the Balkans. The Romans, however, managed to provoke a war against the Macedonia of the Union of Etolian states. As a result, Philip could neither take possession of Illyria or help the Carthaginians in Italy. The second Roman-Macedonian war was started in 200 BC. Already Romans. Philip’s troops were defeated in the battle of the film -Sochala in 197 BC. Then a world was concluded according to which Macedonia gave Rome the overwhelming part of its fleet, pledged to reduce the number of army to 5 thousand people and not wage wars against the Roman allies.
