Republican political tradition is one of the main plots of modern political philosophy, the history of political thought and intellectual history as a whole. Starting from antiquity, the term “republic” gradually surrounded so many new connotations and associations that achieving the initial meaning of this concept with each change of eras became more and more difficult. Now its meaning is completely blurry, since most modern state formations are customary to denote precisely this word. In Russia, the republican tradition has its own story, which the authors of the book set out to trace and interpret. How did the republican concept manifest itself in the public life of Russia in different eras? What theories were connected with her? And why did counter -public ideas defeat the victory over and over again? The reader has to look for answers to these questions together with the authors - leading historians and political scientists.
