A study based on the body of sources, a significant part of which is introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, shows that the “festival of the foundations” of the Soviet state - November 7 - was born not only as a result of the efforts of cultural figures and ideological manipulations of the Bolshevik party. During the Civil War, the main Soviet holiday was the space of a clash of various political forces, a power resource, for which the struggle was deployed. Different groups inside the ruling party, opponents and open enemies of the Bolsheviks, prominent cultural figures used this holiday for their own purposes, lobbying certain political interests.
