For the first time with all possible completeness, this publication is told about the practice of awarding aviators of the Civil War in Russia in the early twentieth century by the Order of the Red Banner of the RSFSR - the highest award for a combat feat at that time. Cavaliers of such a reward were then called the Red Banims. In the book presented, the narrative covers the period from 1918 until the end of the 1920 Soviet-Polish war.
On the basis of numerous archival documents (reports of hostilities, reports of aviators, ideas for awarding and orders), personal memoirs of direct participants in the described events and materials of family archives, the circumstances of the accomplishment of exploits are investigated. In addition to the previously well -known aviators - heroes of the Civil War, the book tells the first time the exploits of pilots, observers, mechanics, motorists and military commissars, mentioning of which could only be found in the lists of awarded.
The book is illustrated by unique photographs, many of which are published for the first time, equipped with tables, schemes, a name pointer and bibliography.
For historians and everyone who is interested in the history of domestic aviation
