Who did the inhabitants of the Pskov land feel - Russians or rather Europeans? How did Pskov organize such a rare self -government on Russian lands?
Pskov, like Novgorod, has always stood out among other Russian principalities. The border position of Pskov gave the city advantages in the trade plan, but contributed to the emergence of difficult relations with the Teutonic Order, a significant role in resolving the conflict with which the Pskov Prince Dovmont played. In Pskov, as in Novgorod, citizens participated in veche meetings, choosing a prince and other administration. The merchants entered the municipal department, held the posts of Sotsk, guest and merchant elders.
Pskov lived his mind and could become one of the hundreds of European cities, entering the Hanseatic Union and having adopted Magdeburg law. However, it so happened that in the 15th century the contacts of Pskov and the Moscow principality, which lived according to completely different laws, intensified.
The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the history of Russia
