The author of this book was a teacher and soldier, publisher and teacher of higher education. But he gave the best, most active years of his life to work in the party and state apparatus and reached very high positions. An honest Soviet patriot and communist, he watched the actions of the highest party officials in the Old Square and in the Kremlin with which he was often close to. It was the “perestroika architects” who deliberately or unconsciously pushed the Soviet Union to sunset and collapse. The notes of a participant and an eyewitness proposed to the reader are evidence of an indifferent participant in dramatic events.
