Exactly a hundred years ago, in December 1917, the All -Russian Emergency Commission was formed, the Cheka was the ancestor of the Soviet intelligence services. The collection reveals the history of the relationship between the party leadership "of the world"s first socialist state and state security organs.
The book includes more than 300 documents of 1917-1989 from the archive of the President of the Russian Federation (AP RF), the State Archive of the Russian Federation (GARF), the Russian State Archive of the latest history (RGANI), the Russian State Archive of Socio-Political History (RGASPI. ) The main array of documents - more than 250 protocols, speeches, letters and notes - is published for the first time.
The selection of materials aims to objectively show state security organs, reflect both positive and negative aspects of their activities. The book talks about how the special services “held the party’s line ", and about the ordinary side of the life of the Chekists, about resonant political affairs and about structural transformations in the department, about the activities of its special forces - from the misinformation bureau formed in the early years of the existence of the USSR, to special departments to special departments The time of the Great Patriotic War and the Committee for the Protection of the Constitutional Origin, created in the era of perestroika.
The book preserves the maximum of stylistics, the design of the features of grammar and spelling of original documents to reflect the color of the era and show how the heads of state, heads of state security bodies, ordinary Chekists, and political prisoners wrote and spoke. There are dry formulations of reports, and rhetorical figures from the speeches of the first persons of the state, and frenzied, with grammatical errors of the letter of convicts with a request to "reconsider and investigate the case", and the ornate bureaucratic turns of multi -page official notes.
Chairman of the editorial council of the publication Oleg Borisovich Mozokhin - Doctor of Historical Sciences, Colonel, Author and Compiled by a number of books, dozens of articles and publications on the history of Soviet state security organs
