In May 1922, V. I. Lenin proposed replacing the death penalty for those actively speaking against the Soviet government abroad: "... all these are obvious counter -revolutionaries, accomplices of the Entente, the organization of its servants and spies and gender of the student youth. It is necessary to put the matter in such a way that these "military spies" are caught and caused constantly and systematically and send abroad" ...
In the fall of 1922, several huge liners set sail from the coast and took away the best people of their era into eternal expulsion. Among them were Russian philosophers like Berdyaev and Ilyin, and the great poets of the Silver Age, such as Zinaida Hippius.
F. Stepun wrote: "... one winter and one summer coat, one suit, two pieces of all linen, two downshole shirts, two nights, two pairs of Palson, two pairs of stockings. Golden things, precious stones, with the exception of wedding rings, were prohibited for export, even the underlying crosses had to be removed from the neck. In addition to things, it was allowed, however, to take a small amount of currency, if I am not mistaken, 20 dollars per person, but where to get it when it was prisoner for storage, and in some cases even the death penalty. ”
