The work of Academician M.M. Theological (1867-1929) was unconditionally recognized as the classic composition of the historical and biographical genre, which remains the most complete study of the personality of Peter the Great and the era of Peter"s transformations.
The third volume introduces the activities of Peter in 1699-1700, covering the issues of the Russian-Dat Union, preparations for the Northern War, and ends with the story of the Embassy of E.I. Ukraitsev in Constantinople.
The publication is illustrated by portraits of Peter I, made from nature, as well as subsequently created by Russian and foreign artists according to the originals of Peter"s time
