The work of Academician M.M. Theological (1867-1929) was unconditionally recognized as the classic composition of the historical and biographical genre, which remains the most complete study of the personality of Peter the Great and the era of Peter"s transformations.
In the second volume, covering the events of 1697-1699, it is told about the first foreign trip of Peter to England, Saxony, Vienna and Poland. The sections "Streletsky wanted", "Voronezh shipbuilding", "City Reform 1699", "Karlovitsky Congress" are also presented.
The publication is illustrated by portraits of Peter I, made from nature, as well as subsequently created by Russian and foreign artists according to the originals of Peter"s time
