The collection is the first result of the work of the project "Folk leaders of 1918-1922." The collection includes both research articles and documentary publications, first introduced into scientific circulation. It reflects the modern level of understanding the problem of the armed participation of the Russian peasantry in the vicissitudes of the Civil War. The collection contains both articles on source studies and the ideology of a multidirectional rebel movement, and regional studies built mainly on unpublished sources. Among the authors of the publication are Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian specialists. Significant territorial coverage, attention to movements that had a different political coloring, represent an extensive material for comparison, identifying the general and special in the partisan and rebel struggle of the peasantry during the Civil War.
